Of Alpacas, Valentines and Freedom

Bet you didn’t expect a post about alpacas, did you?

Huh, huh? No, I’ll bet you didn’t. Valentines, yes. Alpacas, no. I must admit to it sneaking up on me a bit. I mean, before today, I’m not sure I even knew what an alpaca looked like, let alone visited one. Now, I’m an expert. OK, so maybe not an expert, maybe more of an uniformed amateur, but hey, who’s splitting hairs?

Actually, it’s not hair, it’s fibre. And it sells a bomb. So I’m reliably informed. I took Jeff to visit Bob, a school friend today. This is a big deal because Jeff traditionally has never ‘done’ school friends. Bob has Asperger’s so he and Jeff have lots of common ground. For the past few months Bob has been into all things alpaca and his parents have accommodated this interest. He is now the proud owner of Marcie, Blaze, Buttercup and Fred with Junior to follow in a few weeks time. Turns out Marcie and Buttercup are floosies;

both of them were in a delicate condition so Bob’s place will be hearing the sound of little hoof steps before too long. Jeff spent some time feeding them and discussing the finer points of breeding with Bob. I stayed indoors and was nearly licked to death by the dog. Bleurgh.

So on to cupid. He’s visited our house once again. I bought the Captain a lovely dainty card, all pretty and lovey. He bought me a card with two chimps on. Hmm. Tonight, though, we’re not just having a Valentine’s dinner, we’re having an M&S Valentine’s dinner …

Marks & Spencer Valentine's Day

I've already started glugging the wine.
Which reminds me, I mustn’t over indulge. The wicked migraine fairy has been far too obvious just lately and I have a weekend of freedom planned. Remember my mate D? Well we’re doing a Thelma and Louise for the weekend. Only without the Grand Canyon and the crash. Oh and the rape. Actually not very Thelma and Louise like. But we’re doing a runner sans enfants and husbands. Woo hoo, can’t wait! See you on the other side.

It's always good to throw your readers completely off course with an unexpected subject, that has nothing to do with anything at all, thereby getting their braincells all shook up and their attention span widened. It is also good for oxygenating their blood by their sudden surprised gasps for air.

Thelma and Louise are my role models, except for the sudden death part, but I am getting older now and I think I have to find me a new set of woman to look up to. Do you have any suggestion of powerful and hardy women in the over 50 range?

Have a lovely weekend and don't get to inebriated lest you topple over like a pregnant alpaca.

Holly - yeah, pay attention! Oh and I'll learn from you :o)

Sweet Irene - I've been throwing people off course for years so I'm glad to know it's good for them! If I spot any suitable candidates for the over 50 range I'll be sure to let you know ;o)

I want one - an alpaca that is - oh and a weekend away of sans kids (of course the sans husband bit I get every weekend, he he).
Those alpacas have the best hair dos, I'm jealous. At least if i owned one there would always be someone in the house having a good hair day!
I'm so partial to cuddly and cute, do you think they do alpacas at Amazon? :-)
