Oh I had such a lovely time! The wicked migraine fairy has been out in force with all her evil migraine friends just lately and they were all trying to combine forces to prevent what has been called (cue drum roll ...)
The Great UK Blogger Meet-Up!
but I am delighted to tell you that they did not prevail. Oh no!
Now this meet-up has been long in the planning but short on the inviting. In fact, it only involved me and Holly. But she insists I'm great and I think she's great so that must surely qualify as a great meet-up, no? Good. Glad we've sorted that. So what did we do? Well it obviously involved perilous journeying into foreign territory on my part. I did battle with motorways, I waged war with great rivers, I fought with road signs. I did fine with the motorways and the rivers bit but was utterly defeated by the pesky road signs. Honestly, you would have thought that my A-Z would have helped, wouldn't you? Holly's had it covered fine. But mine? Utterly useless. I thought of writing to complain but then maybe Cardiff isn't considered a necessary appendix to Birmingham ...
Anyhow, it was super Holl to the rescue! She drove out of her way to find me lurking in a Burger King carpark. She spotted me. We waved excitedly and then she carried right on past! I did wonder if that was it. One quick look and the meet was off. I was worried, I can tell you. But then she had a change of heart, turned back and took me straight to the Dr Who exhibition.
Oh man, that was exciting too! But not as exciting I as was hoping. You see, I last went to a Dr Who exhibition in 1976 when Tom Baker was the doctor.

And not only did I get to shake hands with a cyberman - how brave am I, huh, huh? - but I also got to kiss the Doctor himself! So at the very least I was looking forward to some tongue action from the delectable David Tennant.

Sadly, he was nowhere to be found. The cybermen were there but I'm disappointed to report a decline in their manners over the past 32 years, not one of them offered to shake my hand. Although a darlek did offer to exterminate me. So that was something. I think it fair to say that Jeff was underwhelmed by the experience. The Thrower was mesmerised though. But I guess that's the difference between being 14 and being 2.
Food was of far greater interest to Jeff and having done justice to a meal at Bella Italia we then attacked and pretty much consumed Starbucks.
Finally we paid homage to Schmesco. Because Holly hearts Schmesco. And because Schmesco's worth it.

All in all it was a fab, fab day and I'm already looking forward to the return match.

best.day.ever. :) :) :)
the great uk blogger meet-up ROCKS! you rock! jeff rocks!
honestly, they can build cybermen but they can't lessen the distance between cardiff and birmingham! criminently (<==a word my nanna used to use but doesn't seem to be recognized by any dictionary)!
we laughed. we laughed long. next time we shall laugh longer, louder, livelier! may not be possible, but we are about pushing boundaries!
Oh no! You identities have been revealed to the public!
Hooray for meeting up and showing us your beautiful faces. Now you've gone a bit public and will probably have to ward off signature hunters.
I have not yet met a blogger and I don't think I will, because you all live abroad. That is fine, I like to keep a little bit of mystique in my blog character.
Oh, I'm sooooooo jealous. But how cool. Next time, if Holl comes up to Brum, can I come too? Oh please, please, pretty please, I will even come dressed as a squirrel and do forfeits.
Seriously though, yay, the first meet up. We need to do more. And the Dr Who Exhibition, how cool, though it was very rude of David not to attend. I will tell him next time I see him. I will. He'll be very sorry. ;)
Hee hee.
Mwah, mwah darlings.
Some years back I'd have said "how naff" to go to a Dr. Who exhibition but today I say "how cool!"
When we were on holiday in England last summer we saw Tom Baker in the street but I didn't introduce myself, damn; I mentioned him on my blog though.
Meeting up is such fun. I just met two who live within 2 hours of me...we spent 7 hours together!! And we were surprised that much time had gone by....I look forward to doing it again too...
Guess what's currently on our tv at the moment? That David Tennant is a bit of alright if you ask me.
Crystal xx
Holly - it was, wasn't it?! So glad we're not pushing envelopes ... that's always worried me ;o)
Rosie - you're scared now, aren't you?
Sweet Irene - aw *blush*, you're too kind. I tried mistique once, but kept being mistaken for an island ...
Jo - dressed as a squirrel? AND forfeits? You're definitely on!
Dumdad - y'see back in '76 it really was naff ... I wasn't cool then *sigh* but am seriously pleased I am now :o) What a lost opportunity, you could have asked Tom if he remembered my kiss ... I'm sure he would have done ...
Aims - it was fun, lots.
Crystal - phwoar! Get the wine open, I'll be round shortly :o)
Wow. Sounds like fun!
(I am crying out of jealousy.)
I'm so devastated that David wasn't there for you. And yay on the loss of anonymity - I can see you!
Miss Burrows - I'll send tissues. Lovely of you to pop by :o)
Tina - it's David's loss ... aha, but how do you know it's really a picture of me?? Ah yes, you've met me.
You. Are. So. Lucky.
That's all I'm going to say.
Kimberly - trust me, I know :o)
